Breakaway Italian Sect Honors Extra Virgin Mary

ROME, Italy. Angered by what they consider a decline in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, a splinter group of Roman Catholic traditionalists has formed a new schism within the church that will worship “Extra Virgin Mary”.

A call for extra virginity.

“We need a new Mary for a new age,” says the cult’s leader, Antonio d’Erario. “Not just a virgin–an extra virgin.”

Purer than the regular stuff.

The term “extra virgin” is used to refer to the highest quality olive oil. “Extra virgin olive oil is characterized by perfect flavor and odor and a maximum acidity of 1%,” says Rocco Donatelli, an olive buyer for the del O’rro brand of food products. “Regular olive oil is like Madonna–it’s like a virgin, but it’s not the real thing.”

Madonna: Not the real thing.

Worship of the Blessed Virgin is particularly strong in this predominantly Catholic country, where virginity until marriage or sexual intercourse, whichever comes first, is common. “This Madonna–she had sex with Dennis Rodman,” notes cult member Donna de Varonna. “You might as well drink out of a urinal,” she says as she spits on the ground.

Rodman:  “It’s fun trading clothes with Madonna!”

British bookmakers, who will lay odds on nearly any proposition, peg the new faith as a 5-1 shot to overtake Episcopalianism and other high-income Protestant denominations within a year. “We were short on Scientology, and look what happened to us,” says bookie Reg Winstall of Liverpool. “They wiped us out when they crushed the Presbyterians last year.”

“If you pass out it doesn’t count.”

There is no comparable Marian cult in America, although coeds at Southern colleges often undergo a transformation that they claim makes them “born-again” virgins.  “I kinda had sex with Jimmy Ray Lester after a Sigma Nu party once,” says Mary Louise Mulleneau, a sophomore at Southern Methodist University.  “Then I met Lee Twitchell, Jr., whose daddy owns a bunch of hotels and stuff.  I asked the girls in my sorority, and they said if you were passed out the first time it doesn’t count.”

Madonna backdrop videos for Reinvention Tour

The audio from Madonna hasn’t been up to par, but the visual is still sometimes interesting. Especially when it’s not done for television stations and there is no obligation to satisfy the mainstream and make them part with their cash. At any rate, these are some backdrop videos for the reinvention tour. Click below to view.

Meet That’s My Jam in 42 Songs [About Us]

Welcome — or welcome back — to That’s My Jam!

For rookies and veterans who forgot, That’s My Jam is a blog devoted to exploring the familiar, forgotten and future of dance, pop and R&B music. We curate the history and happenings of these rhythmic-based genres, and the artists who compose and perform them.

Why make the connection and focus on these? Well, dance, pop and R&B are three genres within popular music that overlap, influence and complement each other. Artists constantly blur the lines between them, leading to crossover success on the Billboard charts, audio variety on albums, and airtime in diverse nightclubs and on radio stations around the globe.

But we recognize that they are not interchangeable — each has its own recipe and distinct flavor.

We aim to please the palate of those who love listening to dance, pop and/or R&B — from aficionados to casual fans. Because of the amount of video on this site, we’re heavily skewed to the MTV Generation and beyond… you know, the people who remember and grew up listening to electro funk, freestyle, new jack swing, hip-hop soul, Euro dance, deep house, trance, teen pop, the Latin explosion, neo soul, crunk & B, hip-pop and more.

Our readers also appreciate the innovative sounds that have influenced today’s performers (think Motown and disco), as well as those artists making noise abroad.

That’s My Jam has always strived to be a fun, informative and regularly updated source about dance, pop and R&B — from our humble beginnings in 1998 with a La Bouche fan page, to1999’s Jams & Grooves on Hotmail/MSN groups, to the Countrygeto eCircle in 1999, to our Blogger site that’s been serving up the goods in healthy-sized portions since 2007.

We’re glad to have you joining us on our journey to explore all things dance, pop and R&B! Now that the formalities are out of the way, familiarize yourself with our musical taste —and hopefully yours as well — with this playlist.

Denny's Fail

Did you enjoy your Grand Slam compliments of Denny’s from the Super Bowl campaign?  For social media fumbles, Denny’s has dropped the ball a few times which is a shame to see.

Denny’s had at least three commercials during the show offering to buy everyone breakfast however if you noticed, they did not mention their Facebook page in any of it.

Customers could have been directed to become friends on Facebook so they then could have printed off a coupon; text messaged a coupon, or sent a coupon to their Smartphone for redemption of a free Grand Slam.  Instead, if you showed up between 6 AM and 2 PM on Tuesday February 9th, you received a free breakfast.

When customers showed up for their free Slam, they were given a coupon book encouraging them to return for discounts and more free stuff but nothing about their Facebook page.  They were also directed to their website to sign up more free stuff and enter contests; once on the site you could then see they have a Facebook and Twitter account.  Great move.

Denny’s really didn’t gain many fans during this time frame, about 6,000.  This past year TGI Fridays built their Facebook fan page by giving away free hamburgers and now has over 915,000 fans.  Within the first few days they have over 50,000 fans.

This was Denny’s 2nd year for this promotion and they must see the benefit of it however on a social media perspective, I’m sure they would have liked a higher return.  They have since posted commercials on their Facebook page encouraging customers to follow them on Facebook.  Not advertising the fan page could have been an over sight.

Now we find out they have Twitter drama which steams from a menu mis-print on their 24 hour menu.  The misprint of Denny’s Twitter name directed customers @dennys, a guy named Denny’s in Taiwan.   Check out the links here that expands on the details.

I will add, both Denny’s and TGI Friday’s are both going a great job on their Facebook accounts interacting with their fans.

As for interacting, I encourage you to join my next webinar for tips and information on how to win at social media which will be Monday, March 9 at 7 PM.  You can register at www.foodservicegeeks.com.

Megan Fox has stubby thumbs - PART 2: A hand double replaced Megan Fox for her Motorola Super Bowl commercial!

Megan Fox has a stubby thumb, featured with a short, broad fingernail!A tribute to the unusual thumb nails of beauty queen Megan Fox - she has BDD (Brachydactyly - type D).Megan Fox's right hand palm - notice the bulby thumb nail phalange!

• Megan Hands – a tribute to her hands & fingernails!
• Megan Fox thumbs: the story of her stubby thumb!

THE MEGAN FOX THUMB STORY – PART 1:

In the summer of 2009 Megan Fox’s right thumb became a hot news item in ‘gossip land’ after new photos revealed that the beauty – who was voted in 2008 by FHM as the “sexiest woman in the world“ – has a rather remarkable ‘minor physical anomaly’ (MPA): a stubby thumb – featured with a broad, short fingernail in both hands (see the pictures below).

THE MEGAN FOX THUMB STORY – PART 2:

But Megan Fox’s thumbs became world news after a Daily mail reporter had noticed that when Megan Fox appeared on february 7, 2010 in a Motorola commercial during the Super Bowl event … her hands were replaced by a ‘hand double’ with much longer fingernails: see the pictures below!

Megan Fox’s right thumb (left) + an impression from the Motorola Super Bowl commercial (right), featured with the youtube version of the full commercial (below):

- MORE FAMOUS HANDS & FINGERNAILS -

The recent news about Megan Fox’s clubbed thumbs has generated a rainbow of negative responses. But probably miss Fox is not responsible her for the hand double replacement in the Motorola Super Bowl commercial – which was probably a decision made by the producers (last year a likewise report was noticed regarding the hands of Madonna).

A few more impressions of Megan Fox’s thumbs & fingernails:

A final but not unimportant notification…

Knowing about Megan Fox’s little imperfection will help other people to realize that – when not overplayed by the owner – any small cosmetic defect might only add to the charms of the person!

SUGGESTION FOR FURTHER READING:

Customer service can be like a bad tattoo

Well, I am behind on my commitment on blogging and to myself I am disappointed.  I do have a few blogs saved in drafts however things have changed while blogging about them and I have been busy getting Foodservice Geeks launched.

What a busy past few weeks and I have to say huge learning experience as well.  These experiences will serve our customers well as I am tried of being treated badly period.

Dear Mr, Mrs, Ms, or Miss customer, please and thank you for the opportunity to work with and for you.  I know you have other choices and if should fail you I please talk with me so see how I can resolve the issue at hand.   I realize you know mistakes can happen, we are human; how we handle these times are what really matter.

We are a young company however we are experience food service professionals and we are in a business relationship; by all means I respect that.   These past few weeks have really shown me how poor some business practices are and the benefit to my customers are I will be running interference on this types of issues as much as possible.

First, when it comes to website development you need to be careful.  There are to many people out there that don’t know what their talking about, say they know what they’re talking about, over promise, under deliver, and will leave you with a negative experience.  Trust me, I know.  We will be covering this subject in with Foodservice Geeks in April on what to do and what not to do when it comes to updating, designing, and web companies in general.  So much of the time, you get what you pay applies in services and commerce however with websites, this is a horse of a different color.

My experience with Dell, yes Dell has been horrible and shocked a company like that has such poor sales support.  I tried to purchase a laptop this past month and haven’t had nothing but drama and poor customer service.  I love technology all day long but what it always comes down to is, it’s about people.  You can not just relay on an email, twitter or Facebook message as a form communication; if you have a question, comment, or concern by all means call.

This week I ended up getting drawn into this site that noted “WTF where they thinking?” about bad tattoo’s and I started this think that poor customer service is like a bad tattoo as you can’t undo that either.  You can try to get the customer back and if you care you’ll probably succeed as by human nature we are forgiving creatures.  Of course there are some customers you sometimes don’t want back either.  Thing is we are working with people and as the saying goes, do un to others as you would have them do un to you.

A friend of mine placed on his Facebook page the following “It’s not difficult people. Do the right thing. Say what you mean. Mean what you say. Do what you say you’ll do.” Make sense doesn’t is?

Well, I have to run however I did want to post something quick about customer service.  We are so close to launching the site and it’s exciting.

Thank you for your time and attention!

Place to Live

Dear Lilith Fair,

After being pushed this way and that, feeling like someone stuck me in a snow globe and shook it around a few times, and being told there “suddenly” wasn’t enough money to pay me– I quit my job working for Madonna’s personal trainer and returned to New York.

New York was where I needed to be. But I was plenty discombobulated. I was starting the apartment search all over again. I went to apartment after apartment looking for a room, but absolutely nothing felt right or comfortable. My friend, with whom I was staying while searching for a new residence, had just given me her rainbow glockenspiel she had since she was a little girl. One day I sat in an empty room (she was actually moving out at the time) and composed my first song on the glockenspiel, called “Place to Live.” I have found that using the glockenspeil as a main instrument, as one might use a piano or a guitar, is incredibly exhilarating!

The Sleep of Prey and Predator

“Like a virgin,” she crooned as she touched the pale full lips with a finger, “Touched for the very first time…”

The body on the bed didn’t respond and she laughed softly. She rose from the bed, the sheet sliding off to reveal her naked form. She glided on the room’s soft rug to the window where she had a view of the towers of Hong Kong all lit up in the distance.

Bored with the view, she headed towards the bathroom and passed the mirror. Her reflection moved past, her body shifting from that of a black hag to a curvaceous woman of Asian descent. She stepped on the cold bathroom tiles.

As she did her ablutions, she felt bloated, satiated like a snake that had swallowed its prey whole. She wished she had not eaten so much, but the man on the bed had more than fulfilled her. Of course, there was no mark on him: when she fed, she did not touch her victims.
A beautiful woman, fair-skinned, blonde and model-thin in a tight-fitting aquamarine dress and stiletto shoes, coalesced from the shadows behind the bathroom door and looked around disdainfully. Her reflection in the mirror changed like snapshots: from a short, fat old woman back to the image that stood before her, switching back and forth incessantly.

“So, are you done?” the other woman said, her luscious mouth in a pout.

“Very much so,” she said with a satisfied smirk.

“Well, don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” the woman said and seeped back into the dark of the shadows.

“Sister,” she said mockingly. “Don’t be a stranger!” Then she laughed as the shadows thinned and became mundane again.

It was tempting fate, her being here in the hotel room. Her kind had always hunted alone, their victims killed sparingly so that no one would suspect their existence. Fortunately, the woman who roamed these hunting grounds – including the hotel – was her sister, one of ten among their mother’s brood.

If it weren’t for that tenuous kinship, they would have already settled the matter with the black blood spilled from their veins.

She walked out of the bathroom fully clothed and refreshed. She always cleaned herself after feeding. As she walked towards the bed, she thought of what she was, her kind that stalked the night and fed on only men. She had heard all the names that they had accumulated over centuries: succubus, the Old Hag, bangungot, – they meant the same thing.

She had once wondered why she had to feed through sex, gaining nourishment through the orgasmic act as she lay on top of her sleeping victims, though not touching them. She didn’t understand why it was all interconnected – the targeting of males, the sleeping victims – but it felt like she always needed to undergo a complicated ritual in order to feed.

She looked down at the body on the bed. Take this one: most of her kind had changed their diet since the last century, feeding on Asian males instead of Caucasians. It was the rice that they consumed, that made every meal tastier than usual. She licked her lips at the memory of the taste.

“Ah well…” she whispered. Time to go indeed. She slipped into the shadows… and halfway across the world to where a young housewife was sleeping on a bed in a small house in the suburbs of New York.

The alarm woke her up and she groaned, covering her head. She didn’t know why she felt so tired after sleeping. She had gone to bed early after dinner, in fact. And her dreams were so strange…

She resigned herself to getting up. She needed to cook breakfast for her husband and the kids before they left the house for work and school. At least one thing nice about her dreams was that she always felt like she had eaten the best meal she ever had.

MADONNA AND JESUS LUZ WENT OUT ON A DINNER DATE IN RIO

That Jesus Luz is a nice young man isn’t he? While at home in Brazil for Carnival, the Brazilian model remembered his manners in his home hood, and invited Madonna to come along on a dinner date with him. Naturally, Madonna had nada better to do than oblige.

Very chivalrous and sweet!

Love Lessons, Celebrity Style: What We Can Learn From: MADONNA

To commemorate Valentine’s Day, this week we’re taking a look at LOVE LESSONS, CELEBRITY STYLE! Some of the good and bad lessons we can learn from celebrities!

First up: MADONNA!

Lesson Learned: There are plenty of pretty faces out there… but after a while, you’d better have something in common .

MADONNA WROTE THE BOOK ON LOVE – AND APPARENTLY IT’S A CHILDREN’S BOOK.

Madonna is seeming less and less like a cougar and more like a spider that eats her young!

Having allegedly split from 23 year old Jesus Luz, (she had gotten everything she could from him, like learning about ‘texting’ and how to use ‘the facebook’) she’s reportedly got her eyes on a new guy – a 24 year old model. What’s the lesson? They’re always another pretty face out there… but after a while, you’d better have something in common. What can she learn from these guys? Sure, they can learn about history from her: she can explain that once there were black and white tv’s and phones had cords.

Before:

And after.

What do you think?

My Hero: Madonna

One of my all-time favorite videos…  In 8th grade I would walk around our house and say “Express yourself don’t repress yourself” over and over again as if it were my mantra.  I loved this video.

My parents didn’t really censor our music choices, in fact they sort of encouraged us to listen to a diverse mix of artists, which I still appreciate to this day…  Maybe it was because they grew up loving the Jackson’s and The Rolling Stones and their parents didn’t approve.  We used to listen to Madonna everyday on the way to school, so whenever I hear one of her songs I think of that time we live in Flower Mound from 8th grade until the end of 9th grade,

Superbowl, Vanity Fair & Snooki!

It was all about young Hollywood this week and we wanted to point out some for favorite celebrity news, from the Superbowl to hot  magazine covers. We begin with Vanity Fair and a fabulous new issue that showcases that hottest new talent of  2010. The gals that made this list have super-star talent and we can’t wait to see where there careers lead them. Pictured above is Kristen Stewart, Amanda Seyfried, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Anna Kendrick, Carey Mulligan, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska and Evan Rachel Wood

New Moon’s Ashley Greene poses for SoBe and kicks off her campaign with the beverage company in  a swimsuit painted on to her body.

Although we think they would make the cutest couple ever, the rumors about Glee’s Corey Monteith and Taylor Swift are just that..rumors. The two are reportedly good friends and nothing more.

We’re still not sure however about the rumors behind Taylor and bad body John Mayer. The two were spotted back in January at a restaurant in Santa Monica and more recently Taylor hitting John’s tour bus after he performed. You may not like Mayer’s womanizing ways but at least we know he is good at heart. He recently donated $500,000 via his Back to You Fund to go to the Red Cross.

Kim Kardashian arrives in Miami this week to support her man, Reggie Bush at the Superbowl. Kim K will be hosting the celeb-packed Leather & Laces Party on Saturday night with Holly Madison.

What do you think of Jersey Shore’s Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi sans the tan and aqua net hair? Inside Edition gave the MTV reality star a makeover and we are loving the new Snooks.

It’s our favorite gal from the Hills. Lauren Conrad spotted in NYC  on Wednesday at Borders for a signing of her newest book Sweet Little Lies.

Blake Lively gets a little arm candy from her bodyguard while shooting a new season of Gossip Girl in chilly NYC.

Rihanna hits Miami. Here she is warming up for her performance during the Superbowl with teen heart-throb Justin Bieber.

We’re not sure if Madonna and her sweet young thing are definitely splittsville or not. Jesus Luz spotted in Rio de Janeiro for a little R & R after a big break up perhaps?

genius.

at laaaast, my love has come along.

The first time I looked at Basquiat’s art, I was literally like what the fuck? Then I looked it again. I was like hmm, alright, okay [head nodding]. Then I looked at it again, and I had never seen anything so painfully beautiful or true [emphasis on painfully]. Oddly enough, it was listening to Etta James’ At Last that made me think of Basquiat. Odd pairing, I know.

Do you ever see a piece of art, have a moment, or read a passage and think of a song that is ripe and perfect for it? Or vice versa. Do you hear a song and think of a piece of art or passage?
